Reporting to the Associate Director of Information Technology Services, the Networks Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, security, and maintenance of the Academy’s network-based systems and campus network wiring.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Configure and manage on-premise and cloud firewalls;
- Configure and manage on-prem and cloud-based network systems and software, including routers, switches, wireless network systems, VPN, VOIP, and ARIN resources;
- Install and maintain network hardware and software, including applying firmware updates and patching
- Work with the infrastructure and security team, to configure and manage DNS, DHCP, SSL Certificates, logging servers, and registration systems and processes for non-domain joined devices;
- Develop a working knowledge of critical server and storage systems in order to provide backup support for the Academy’s Systems Administrator, and assist with system updates and patching as required;
- Work in collaboration with the infrastructure and security team to provide a secure and stable network environment;
- Implement, maintain and document network security policies in accordance with Academy policies and in compliance with state and federal laws;
- Implement and maintain systems for legal discovery of digital records, and assists with incident response and fulfillment of records requests;
- Collaborate with physical plant staff and vendors on the installation and maintenance of the campus copper and optical network;
- Research and recommend software, hardware, and cloud-based solutions to support the Academy’s network infrastructure needs;
- In conjunction with ITS leadership, formulates and maintains business continuity and disaster recovery plans;
- Document the installation and configuration of network hardware, software, and cloud-based systems;
- Participate in ITS technical on-callcoverage, and assist with security incident response;
- Record and document changes in accordance with change control best practices and the Academy’s procedures

Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required; advanced degree and network management certifications preferred
- 5-7 years of experience managing a complex network environment, including fiber backbone, routing and switching, secure wireless networks, VPN, and firewalls; experience working at a residential academic institution preferred
- Experience with Next-Gen firewalls as core, VRF and VSX features
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Participate as an effective member of a team, and to work collaboratively and effectively with peers
- Proficency in Windows, Linux, Active Directory policies & groups, application services, file and print services, server-based security, and server virtualization (such as VmWare, Hyper-V, etc)
- Proficency in centralized deployments/patch management (such as NinjaOne, Zenworks, SCCM, etc)
- Scripting experience (such as Powershell, python, etc)
- A solid understanding of cloud-based systems and services such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Strong written and oral communication skills

Working Conditions
The worker is mainly in an office environment, and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
