Under general direction, lead and support the ITS performing skilled work in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of traffic signals and other Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices. Also, support in the integration of Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), including Econolite’s Centracs ATMS.
DUTIES
- Install, maintain, replace, program, repair, and troubleshoot ITS equipment (CCTV cameras, video/radar detection, loop detectors, dynamic message signs, connected vehicle RSUs, poles, cabinets, cabling, and communication equipment such as Ethernet switches, fiber, and copper)
- Install, maintain, replace, program, repair, and troubleshoot street lighting and traffic signals (controllers, cabinets, detection, wiring, signal heads, poles, and related communication equipment)
- Implement traffic control devices (signs, cones, etc.) as needed.
- Operate a bucket truck for traffic signal and ITS maintenance.
- Train new technicians and perform all functions of Maintenance and ITS Technician roles.
- Be available for on-call responses to customer call-outs, including nights and weekends
- This role is based on-site in Miami, FL, with potential travel within Florida and across the U.S. as needed.
- Represent Econolite professionally as a proactive customer service and quality ambassador.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- FDOT Temporary Traffic Control Certification and Electrician License preferred
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety standards
- Experience with installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signals, ITS devices, and related equipment. Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing data communication and traffic signal equipment.
- Knowledge of state and local traffic control guidelines and pre-emption systems
- Fiber optic cable and networking equipment knowledge; fiber training preferred.
- Proficient in interpreting schematics, site plans, and engineering drawings
- Ability to wire and connect signalized intersection cables.
- Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations on electronics
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective working relationships
- Valid Driver's License with a clean DMV record; commercial license preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- May involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds.)
