The Nighthawk Cyber Alliance (NCA) was launched to create and support a cyber-safe culture across Nash CC, Nash County and Eastern North Carolina. The NCA, a cyber security awareness and advocacy group, consists of information technology business and industry leadership team members, faculty, staff, and students at Nash Community College. The goal of the NCA is to promote the dissemination of cyber literacy principles and the attainment of foundational cyber literacy skills. The Nighthawk Cyber Alliance Coordinator will organize and support the goals of the NCA including but not limited to:
- Host cybersecurity awareness events for Nash CC faculty, staff, students and the local community.
- Partner with small businesses supported by the Small Business Center at Nash CC to provide cyber safety practices and resources.
- Provide professional development training and awareness to non-IT students, faculty, staff and small businesses related to cyber safety.
- Collaborate with non-IT faculty to implement cyber modules into non-IT disciplines of study.
- Design and execute targeted recruitment and retention efforts to increase the number of women enrolling in and completing the IT/IS associate degree.
- Coordinate IT/IS associate degree student tutors' schedules, delivery methods, and usage tracking.
This is a new part-time, grant-funded position (20 hours per week). The grant has a 3-year cycle and will end June 30, 2027.
Essential Responsibilities
- Capacity to quickly learn and master new software tools or updates through self-directed learning or formal training.
- Ability to plan, schedule, and manage training sessions effectively, including preparation of materials and handling logistical details.
- Skills in creating engaging training materials such as lesson plans, handouts, and interactive activities that align with learning objectives.
- Capability to lead training sessions confidently, motivate learners, and manage group dynamics to achieve training goals.
- Awareness of common and emerging cyber threats (e. g., phishing, ransomware, malware) and the vulnerabilities they exploit.
- Knowledge of best practices for developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and guidelines for various scenarios.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain complex cybersecurity concepts clearly and engagingly to various audiences.
- Ability to facilitate group discussions, workshops, and simulations, and manage group dynamics to foster an engaging learning environment.
- Understanding of effective marketing and communication strategies for educational institutions to attract and engage prospective students and their families.
- Skills in building and maintaining relationships with prospective students, parents, community members, and educational professionals.
- Capability to take initiative and work independently on recruitment tasks and projects, showing self-motivation and drive.
- Participate in professional development activities provided by NCC.
- Participate in College events and activities.
- Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree with relevant work experience needed. Must have a creative, outcome-driven approach to reaching target audiences through the use of technology. Familiarity with instructional design methodologies and content creation required. Experience with cyber safety practices and policies required. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Demonstrated organizational and project management skills needed. Attention to detail and accuracy are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree in information technology / cybersecurity preferred.
