Starting salary: $85,000*

General Description:
The Director of Information Technology (IT) & Security Officer is responsible for the strategic design, support, and oversight of the technology infrastructure, including network and telecommunication systems, for Beyond Support Network. The role also encompasses managing security measures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic protected health information (EPHI). This position provides leadership in cybersecurity and compliance while guiding staff development and adopting appropriate technology to meet agency goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Supervise and mentor IT staff, promoting a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Lead the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of IT personnel.
- Establish performance goals and monitor staff adherence to agency policies and procedures.
- Actively contribute to agency-wide strategic planning and program development initiatives.
- Coordinate staff training and professional development in line with evolving technology trends.
- Participate in cross-functional committees to align technology services with the agency's objectives. Provides consultation, supervision, and instruction to staff through individual and group conferences in order to assist staff in development of skills.
- Monitors time and attendance of staff including but not limited to approving time sheets, time off requests, and monitoring tardiness and absences.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Technology Strategy and Operations
- Oversee daily operations of IT infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, cloud environments, and telecommunications.
- Lead the planning and implementation of new IT solutions and enhancements to optimize network performance and security.
- Research and adopt new technologies to meet the evolving needs of the agency, including virtualization, cloud services, and automation.
- Coordinate special projects such as network upgrades, data migrations, and system integrations.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure cost-effective purchasing and service agreements.
Cybersecurity and Compliance
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to safeguard EPHI in accordance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant regulations.
- Lead the agency's HIPAA/HITECH Compliance efforts, conducting periodic risk assessments and security audits.
- Ensure proactive threat detection, incident response, and recovery strategies are in place.
- Provide reports on IT security and compliance to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, as needed.
- Implement and monitor disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Network and Systems Administration
- Design, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, ensuring secure access and data integrity.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and data security protocols.
- Perform regular system backups and develop archiving procedures to safeguard data.
- Monitor help desk tickets, ensuring prompt resolution of technical issues.
- Establish standards for hardware, software, and security configurations, ensuring compliance with best practices.
Telecommunications and Assistive Technology
- Oversee the deployment and maintenance of telecommunications equipment and services, including cell phones and VoIP systems.
- Support assistive technology initiatives, ensuring staff and Individuals have access to necessary devices and support.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to telecommunication and assistive technology systems.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop IT personnel.
- Expertise in network and systems administration, cybersecurity, and compliance frameworks.
- In-depth understanding of LAN/WAN, cloud computing, virtual servers, and telecommunication systems.
- Ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and project management.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of network administration experience and 5+ years of helpdesk or systems support experience.
- Certifications in network administration, cybersecurity, or related fields (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Network+) preferred.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License and willingness to travel for work assignments as needed.
