We are seeking a candidate for our senior level Windows system administrator position that will be responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining automation efficiencies within a highly collaborative, multi-platform and multi-disciplined program environment. The System Administrator must have the ability to obtain a top secret security clearance as they will be responsible for administering systems that contain classified data.
Primary customer interaction involves resolving server configuration issues for the engineering community using the helpdesk and task assignment methods. He or she will work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security compliance requirements. Document and follow IT processes and procedures. Work as a team member in a diversified technological environment. The appropriate candidate will use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a mild to difficult scope and complexity. The candidate is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of server hardware and some automation tools related to automating the Windows infrastructure for the classified programs. The candidate needs to have solid knowledge of Group Policy and latest Windows operating systems. He or she will be performing automated system deployment reporting, and patch management. He or she will also be responsible for server backups, restores and other DoD compliance related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate’s roles and responsibilities include:
Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Research, deploy, and support automation capabilities to streamline and secure technical processes
Develop solutions to complex technical problems, which may impact multiple work areas
Drive technical projects & implementations from beginning-to-end to improve automation services
Ability to provide support and guidance on technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policy, SAN, DNS, DHCP, backups, disaster recovery, e-mail, virtualization
Plan for capacity, performance, and service availability of servers and storage
Ensure data compliance, including overseeing backups, data location, and data retention policies
Apply best practices to all aspects of the program environment, from physical facilities to automated task configuration
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to 1st and 2nd level system administrators
Provide guidance, planning on efforts to improve program environment services
Ensure smooth deployment and operations of systems and the general health of the SCCM in multiple environments, including performing routine physical inspections of logs and dashboard reviews
Create and maintain technical and detailed design documentation
Partner with application/project/security teams and vendors to plan, and implement new or upgrade IT infrastructure
Manage client agents for server monitoring as well as agents for server management
Create and maintains technical, detailed documentation
Required:
U.S. Citizenship status
Proven understanding of data center and cloud concepts and technologies
Ability to effectively provide direction for a multi-disciplined IT team
Minimum of 5 years of experience with the following:
Microsoft Windows Server operating systems (2008, 2012, 2016)
Active Directory and Group Policy in a multi-domain, multi-site environment Network and infrastructure services such as domain controllers, global catalogs, DNS, and DHCP
Infrastructure backup, restore, disaster recovery and business continuity
Infrastructure security (e.g. antivirus, patching, device control)
VMware vSphere and vCenter
Systems Monitoring Storage technologies such as SAN and NAS, Fiber
Effective written and interpersonal communication
Proven technical, professional, and business knowledge
Critical thinking – ability to solve technical problems independently and in collaborative teams
Effective written and interpersonal communication
Desired experience:
Active Top Secret or SCI security clearance
Direct working experience with DFARS, DAAPM, JSIG environments
Experience with STIG and SCAP tools
Automation via scripting (eg. Powershell or BAT scripting)
Experience with the following Microsoft technologies:
SCCM, KMS, MDT, and WSUS
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
Linux operating systems
HP hardware (workstations, servers & storage)
CompTIA Security+, CISSP or CASP certification
ITIL Foundation and/or Service Operations certifications
Microsoft, cloud, and/or other industry standard certifications
Required Education:
Typically, Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology or related technical discipline and a minimum of 5 years related experience
