Zurich North America is currently hiring a Data Infrastructure Architect and this person will report to a Data and Analytics Manager. The Data Infrastructure Architect will work in a hybrid schedule out of our Schaumburg, IL North America Headquarters. Zurich’s Data & Analytics Engineering Team is responsible for the building cloud native analytics ecosystem at scale, and machine learning operations.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the delivery of assigned IT application mid-size project or program work stream for specific vertical lines of business by collaborating with ITS contacts on approach for project / program involvement.
- Within a program, take direction from more senior program solution Architect or from Enterprise / functional architects in smaller projects.
- Independently perform or execute given solution design assignments capable to implement end to end processes.
- Utilize the group operations and technology governance process, to provide architectural design approval and ensure that the IT architectural standards and practices are followed through project and program involvement.
- Provide consultation for multiple areas of technology to project efforts within various Data and Analytics areas and/or external service providers.
- Identify, in collaboration with the more senior program solution and data architects or in smaller projects directly with the functional area architects, existing IT software assets for new opportunities (e.g. re-use) through project and program involvement.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of enterprise architecture, standards and practices by maintaining understanding of current and future technology developments.
- Design and document solutions required to meet business needs and automate business processes/activities.
- Understand and evaluate multiple platforms, software packages, and custom components to design the solution.
- Communicate recommended platform architectural designs and best practices with other D&A teams, including engineers, data scientists, data analysts.
- Support the development of business cases.
- Participate in technology evaluations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the IT Architecture area OR
- Zurich Cybersecurity Technician Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the IT Architecture area OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the IT Architecture area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Data infrastructure architecture, design, administration, configuration, integration, and migration experience.
- Financial data, reporting platforms background.
- Experience with data warehousing and data pipeline orchestration technologies, e.g Yellowbrick, Informatica, Autosys
- Experience with Azure cloud technology stack and IaaS/PaaS/serverless services– Azure Data Factory, Databricks, CosmosDB, Document Intelligence, Logic/Function Apps, AKS/container instances, App Services.
- Familiarity with GenAI technologies and RAG concepts- embeddings, vector databases, LLM serving
- Experience modernizing solutions, patterns, platforms, migrating workloads between platforms, according to long-term platform strategy and vision
- Financial and/or insurance industry experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
