Department Overview:
PG&E’s Information Technology (IT) organization is headquartered in Oakland, CA with teams in various locations within our service territory. The organization designs, develops, operates, and maintains the technology and telecommunications systems that enable PG&E to meet its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and affordable service to customers. IT partners with the business by increasing capabilities through the development of additional functionality, implementing new technologies, reducing costs, increasing productivity, and facilitating organizational and business effectiveness through enabling technologies.
Position Summary:
The Information Technology Rotational Development Program is an 18-month rotational program that provides an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience in up to three departments within Information Technology. The rotational opportunities may be located anywhere within our service territory.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
The hourly rate for a bachelor’s degree is $41.70 and for a master’s degree is $49.04
Samples of possible rotational assignment areas are as follows:
- Business Technologies (Customer Care, Electric, Gas, Power Generation, Corporate Services)
- These positions could be for programming in Java, iOS/Swift, Web and or Node.js
- Enterprise Protection (Cyber and Corporate Security)
- These positions could be penetration testing, vulnerabilities reviews, and new projects for deploying security products.
- Cloud and Infrastructure (Cloud, Data Center, Network, Telecom)
- These positions could be for project delivery and technology operations.
- Data Analytics
- These positions could be for data enablement, data ontology and data governance.
Responsibilities:
With six months in each rotation, participants will have a variety of work responsibilities. The goal of which is to both learn about the department and contribute to its success. Participants can work in various locations across PG&E’s service territory. Candidates must be highly motivated, show great initiative, and partner with people to address issues openly, directly, and respectfully. Individuals must also be able to communicate their thoughts and ideas clearly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates will be receiving a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline from May 2023 - June 2025.
- Must have a valid California driver’s license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.

- Cybersecurity related course work and or experience, ELK Stack
- Robotic Process Automation (RPA)

- Development/Execution experience – agile development, CICD
