We are looking for a Software Engineer III who is passionate about developing solutions that meet business needs, is a quick learner, enjoys daily interaction with business and technology teams, and is comfortable learning new technologies and platforms while working in a fast-paced environment. This role is part of our Engineering Solution Delivery team that supports our Managed Investments department.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assess and provide solutions to system-wide architectural problems.
Utilize working relationships across teams within their division.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to coding standards and guidelines.
Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues that may arise during the development and deployment of software projects.
Actively contribute to the git repositories, delivering high-quality code.
Has an evolving understanding of system-wide architectural challenges.
Recommends efficiencies to current established development and continuous integration practices.
Translate raw data into usable business information to achieve business value.
Practice Agile methodologies, analyze project requirements, and establish relationships with data owners and experts.
Collaborate across remote/virtual channels with peers, teams, and stakeholders in the organization.
Contributes to technical discussions and decision-making processes within the team.
May take on a mentoring role and provide guidance and support to junior technical talent
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
2-4 years of experience working with modern engineering tools, languages, and practices with a strong focus on Snowflake development and administration.
Demonstrate critical thinking, ownership mindset and continuous learning.
Demonstrate resourcefulness and flexibility: willing to plan, do, check, and adjust.
Demonstrate the ability to effectively address and overcome challenges arising from ambiguities, devising robust solutions to ensure successful outcomes.
Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and the ability to drive solutions to completion, ensuring accountability and successful project outcomes.
Business domain knowledge in finance and/or institutional investments
Able to communicate technical solutions to audiences with varying degrees of technical acumen.
Experience developing solutions using agile methods and working on a geographically distributed Scrum/Agile team.
Willingness to actively participate in hands-on development activities, contributing to the coding and implementation of solutions.
Bring new ideas and creative problem-solving skills to the team.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake features such as Snowpipe, Streams, Task Orchestration, ELT using Snowflake SQL, and data sharing.
Proficiency in SQL, with the ability to write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex queries.
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python for data processing and automation tasks
Familiarity with dbt data transformation tool development and best practices.
Experience in AWS services and integrating Snowflake with cloud-native services.
Experience with DevOps tools and processes to build and deploy applications: Git version control system, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform)
Experience with front end development in modern technologies like REACT, JavaScript, Node JS, Streamlit.
Experience with workload automation tools like Control-M and Airflow.
Familiarity with data governance tools like Collibra, Axon, Alation.
Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools like Power BI and Tableau.
