As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector, specifically the Engineer's Platform & Integrated Experience team, your role is crucial in creating, improving, and delivering tools for the Software Development Life Cycle. We seek passionate and seasoned engineers to aid our organization in providing solutions that enhance the productivity of our development teams. Your main responsibility will be to create innovative tools and technologies aimed at providing self-service capabilities for our extensive community of over 40,000 developers. These tools will act as a conduit for developers to effortlessly and efficiently utilize our Public Cloud Technologies.
Job responsibilities:
- Contribute to design and system architectures
- Provide technical expertise to the team, work proactively and independently to address project requirements, work closely with wider stakeholders to deliver projects
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Promotes decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
- Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
- Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality, performance, and adherence to coding standards
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges, proactively addressing issues to ensure project success
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization's software development processes
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
- Experience as a software engineer, with a focus on developing DevX products and tools
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, and frameworks such as Spring Boot
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in using and integrating with developer tools and frameworks, such as IDEs, version control systems (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns, with the ability to architect scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Experience with API design and development, including RESTful APIs, and knowledge of microservices architecture.
- Experience in driving technical strategy and architecture decisions, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, continuous learning mindset and a passion for staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the DevX space.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) subsystems, such as OAuth, OpenID Connect, or SAML.
- Preferred Experience implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms, including role-based access control (RBAC) and attribute-based access control (ABAC).
- Knowledge in popular tools, including Jenkins, Spinnaker, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for provisioning and managing infrastructure resources.
