Job Description:
Raytheon Intelligence and Space is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer. It is an excellent opportunity where you will be an important and active participant on the software development team for Electronic Warfare (EW) projects, working with cutting edge technologies in products that protect our warfighter.
The candidate will take part in the embedded real-time software development and/or GUI based simulation tool development. The software development will consist of applying and developing advanced methodologies, scientific principles, theories, and concepts related to EW algorithms and embedded processing for real time systems.
Specific duties include performing software design and development, as well as supporting system integration and test, all using the established Raytheon engineering processes and practices. The individual may also be called upon to provide flight test and field support, which offers the engineer unique insights into the importance our EW products have to the warfighter.
This individual will work as part of a multi-disciplined team where there are experienced engineers to provide mentoring and support. This individual will also be asked to use modular design approaches and/or agile software development techniques for a high quality, supportable software system.
Responsibilities include:
Participating in the full software development lifecycle (requirements analysis, design, implementation and unit testing, software integration and test, system level integration).
Performing requirements analysis / definition to ensure the system will meet customer requirements.
Participating in code reviews and other software artifact reviews.
Interacting with engineers from other disciplines, such as Systems Engineering and Hardware Engineering, to obtain pertinent information required to accomplish tasks.
Required Skills:
Typically, a minimum of 10 years of related work experience.
Experience with Real Time Embedded Systems development.
Experience in leading and motivating technical teams or mentoring.
Experience in the phases of the software lifecycle, including software architecture, system/software requirements analysis, design, implementation, verification testing, system integration, and post-delivery maintenance.
Experience with detailed program planning, scheduling and execution.
Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Risk & Opportunity Management.
Experience leading teams developing software in C, C++, Ada and/or C#.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need to obtain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Desired Skills/Experience:
Experience spanning software design, implementation, testing, and system integration.
Experience with UNIX, Linux, VxWorks, INTEGRITY, SYSBIOS, or other RTOS.
Experience with RTOS IDEs, workbenches, or equivalent development tools.
Experience in Communications (Radios) or Electronic Warfare domains.
Familiarity with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development Methodologies.
Experience with Signal Processing algorithm implementation, MATLAB, Simulink, or similar modeling tools.
Exposure to Communications Systems or Parallel Processing.
Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics or related field.
Education:
Typically, a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
