DescriptionAs a Senior Group Engineering Manager, you will orchestrate the strategic direction, technical excellence, and operational efficiency of the engineering initiatives, crucial to supporting our engineers in their pursuit of groundbreaking innovations.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll do…
- Strategic Leadership:
- Define and execute the data engineering strategy in alignment with business goals and the evolving needs of our FPI data quality, operational and software Engineering Team.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership to shape the long-term vision and roadmap for data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.
- Team Management and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of highly skilled data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Manage team resources effectively, prioritize projects, and ensure timely delivery of complex data engineering initiatives.
- Data Infrastructure and Architecture:
- Design and implement scalable, reliable data pipelines and architectures that facilitate the collection, storage, and processing of extensive datasets.
- Uphold rigorous standards for data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data lifecycle.
- Technical Expertise and Innovation:
- Stay at the forefront of technological advancements in data engineering, machine learning infrastructure, and cloud computing.
- Provide expert guidance and hands-on support in leveraging advanced data tools and platforms (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Airflow, AWS/GCP/Azure) to drive innovation in prognostics research.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with data scientists, researchers, software engineers, and product managers to integrate data-driven insights into our products and services.
- Communicate effectively across teams and leadership levels, articulating data engineering strategies, challenges, and solutions.
- Continuous Improvement and Best Practices:
- Lead initiatives to enhance data engineering processes, tools, and methodologies, promoting best practices in data management, compliance, and operational efficiency, including CICD, robust monitoring and observability.
- Drive a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the data engineering team and across the organization.
QualificationsYou'll Have…
- BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. MSc preferred
- Proven track record (5+ years) in senior leadership roles within data engineering, preferably in a research-driven or engineering environment.

- Strong leadership abilities with a demonstrated capacity to build, develop, and motivate high-performing teams.
- Extensive experience in designing and managing large-scale data infrastructure and pipelines using modern technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Deep technical expertise in big data frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and proficiency in data processing and analytics.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across organizational boundaries.
- Experience in predictive maintenance, prognostics, or reliability engineering is highly advantageous.
