H2 Performance Consulting (H2) is seeking an Engineer, Software III to support the Naval Info Warfare Center Atlantic’s Data Center and Cloud Hosting Services and Enterprise Systems.
The Engineer, Software III responsibilities will include:
- Design, develop, and maintain computer and network software, including specialized utility programs and databases using Agile process tools
- Apply programming concepts and modern software development methodologies (Agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in professional and academic settings.
- Support systems engineering or systems administration within cloud-based enterprise environments, ensuring seamless operation of interconnected systems.
- Supervise and mentor junior personnel, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development.
- Obtain and maintain relevant certifications, including vendor/platform specific credentials and Information Assurance certifications as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and deliver high-quality software solutions.
- investigate & solve problems relating to software enabled business function modernization, hosting services such as infrastructure, enterprise managed services, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), data support to the tactical edge, and optimizations of commercial cloud hosted systems.
- identify solutions in cloud computing and on-premises operations and identify risks associated with data center design, equipment failure, environmental issues, networking and cabling, security and management while achieving high reliability of critical systems and providing high availability to mission owners
- propose innovative engineering solutions that focus heavily on automation, leveraging cloud-based services where appropriate, while also ensuring a strong focus on cyber security compliance
- routine maintenance releases for bug fixes, security updates, and implementing Change Requests
- develop new code as well as implement changes to existing code bases, as needed for various tasks
- perform the tasks and activities required for the implementation and integration of COTS products including installation, configuration, and integration with other software, hardware, and networks
- perform system software updates, tuning, patching, administration, monitoring, maintenance, auditing, logging, and reporting
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Clearance: Minimum SECRET clearance
- Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field such as engineering or mathematics (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems); and shall possess Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification.
- Experience:
- Ten (10) years with Masters or 14 years with Bachelor’s degree of professional experience with research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs which may include database maintenance within an application area.
- Individual shall have experience applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting and notable experience with applying modern software development methodologies (e.g. agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in a professional or academic setting.
- Specific Experience: Three (3) years of technical experience in support of systems engineering or systems administration within an enterprise hosting environment in the cloud in support of multiple interconnected systems and enterprise managed services. Experience may be achieved simultaneously. Individual shall have notable experience supervising and/or mentoring of lesser experienced personnel.
- Required Certifications:
- At least one (1) of the following: CompTIA Security+ or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) or Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).
- At least one (1) of the following: IEEE CS Software Development Professional or with COR approval complete a vendor/platform specific certification such as: Microsoft role-based certifications, Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP) role-based certifications, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Citrix Certified Administrator, Cloud certifications such as AWS Architect, Developer, and SysOps Professional, or other certifications relevant to the role and as approved by the COR.
- Plus: depending on PWS tasking, individual shall be certified as Information Assurance Management (IAM) or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) or Information Assurance System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Level II or III (position-based).
