Position Responsibilities:
The Senior Path Planning Software Engineer will be responsible for…
- Research and develop innovative algorithms that solve motion planning problems for both on-road, mixed traffic and off-road autonomous driving, including behavior planning with uncertainty and trajectory optimization
- Write high-quality and reliable software for autonomous driving in complex scenarios
- Collaborate with engineers across localization, perception, prediction, machine learning, mapping, and infrastructure to conduct system integration and tests
- Implementing, tuning, and testing novel algorithms to enhance components such as motion planning, dynamic/static obstacle avoidance, complex fine positioning maneuvers, and platooning
- Knowledge and experience in advanced learning algorithms including deep learning, reinforcement learning, inverse reinforcement learning
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proven ability to collaborate within the planning team and cross-functional teams
- Proven experience in one of the following: behavior planning with uncertainty, trajectory optimization, computational geometry, model predictive control, machine learning for motion planning
- Experience designing and implementing innovative planning algorithms on real-world autonomous vehicles
- Strong C++ programming and software design skills
- Strong knowledge of data structures, graph theory, planning algorithms, physics (vehicle dynamics)
Education and Experience:
- Masters or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, Math/Statistics or other related fields, or 3+ years of experience working with autonomous vehicles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experiences on autonomous vehicles or ground wheel robots, especially those deployed in urban environments.
