As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking- Home Lending, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.
Job responsibilities
- Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
- Be accountable for decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
- Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders
- Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary
- Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team
- Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation
- Spearhead working collaboratively with other cross-functional teams and leaders to bring together a suite of AWS Public Cloud platform products.
- Work cross functionally with design leadership and area product owners to drive the vision and strategy of this organization
- Drive engineering initiatives such as; architectural changes, non-functional requirements, engineering effectiveness, and post-delivery processes
- Provide technical leadership and vision in a widely scoped engineering team.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training, or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience . In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
- Experience leading teams of technologists
- Lead, guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives
- Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
- Expertise with the services industry and their IT systems
- Practical cloud native experience
- Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines
- Solid programming skills, a track record, and passion for improving the code structure and architecture to enhance testability and maintainability
- Experience setting a roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, offer engineering advice, deliver frequent and transparent feedback, work with team members to grow in their careers, and ensure everyone delivers quality results
- Manage projects, lead, care about product ownership, an outstanding customer-centric mindset, and solving problems for our customers.
