SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for providing business unit analysis of end-user business needs and creating or configuring third party application products to meet defined needs. This position will also be responsible for identifying and leading the resolution of complex issues in support of business automation needs. Engineer is proficient in both custom software development and packaged systems development and configuration activities. Scope of business analysis duties is within and across multiple business units at any given time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
1. Review, analyze, design, and evaluate business systems and user needs.
2. Document requirements, define scope, assumptions, constraints, risks, and objectives.
3. May identify and assist in the resolution of issues.
4. Formulate systems to parallel overall business strategies.
5. Document current or potential impacts to processes, business operations, and the organization.
6. Create plan and plan content within defined framework.
7. May provide project-based direction and guidance to others in IT.
8. Take direction and guidance from more senior software engineers or other IT management.
9. Install, configure, and modify features of packaged application software from third party providers.
10. Modify forms, stored procedures, jobs, scripts, and vendor-supplied utilities to affect solutions to business user needs with packaged software solutions and custom developed software.
11. Utilize and comply with internal standards; provide input to design and revise standards.
12. Design unit tests and system tests for developed code and/or modified third party products. Validate results with customers.
13. Assist in the creation and validation of the back-up, recovery, and disaster recovery parameters of a given application.
14. Document developed code and systems, or changes made to third party products.
15. Provide leadership in support and troubleshooting of operational problems relative to application systems.
16. May be viewed as an expert for specific technologies, applications, or products.
17. Provide leadership and work effectively and professionally with other members of IT to support application implementations, test events, upgrades of both infrastructure and applications, and in troubleshooting activities.
18. Other duties as assigned by management.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science; or combination of associate degree and three years of related work experience; or 6+ years of related work experience.
• Minimum three years of experience in business analysis and programming computer software applications.
• Thorough working knowledge of personal computers, database concepts, and networks.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
• Ability to identify and lead the resolution of highly complex business issues and problems.
• Ability to translate business requirements into designs, logical and physical data models, and create application programs in the Visual Studio environment using .NET and C#.
• Ability to create and manipulate data stores using the SQL Server suite of products.
• Ability to translate business requirements and install, configure, and modify parameters of packaged application software.
• Ability to modify forms, stored procedures, jobs, scripts, reports, and vendor supplied utilities to effect solutions.
• Ability to facilitate one-on-one interviews up to large group (4+) sessions.
• Ability to work effectively and professionally with other members of IT and the organization to support application implementations, test events, upgrades of both infrastructure and applications, and in troubleshooting activities.
• Ability to operate and deliver solutions with a customer service mentality.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects.
**WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL DEMANDS:
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work). Travel demands for this position are estimated up to 5%. If travel is required, this travel may include customer visits, events/trade shows, and completion of presentations primarily throughout Domestic US or International regions. Employees must comply with all travel recommendations regarding “safe travel” according to company policies and guidelines, and all federal, state, local, and international orders.
**PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
