Overview
Engineers in Global Investment Operations at T. Rowe Price are playing a key role in helping build the future of financial services, working hand-in-hand with business partners to build client experiences that are changing the way people invest. We want technologists with a new perspective who are passionate about solving business, data and technical challenges. You will build groundbreaking, next-generation applications for n-tier cloud architectures. You’ll be involved, hands-on, through the entire development cycle. And you’ll redefine the way our traders, portfolio managers and analysts serve our clients.
We are working to develop the firm's next generation data distribution platform, with the aim to seamlessly deliver real-time and on-demand investments data to a global network of distributed trading and research platforms. We are employing new paradigms such as cloud computing, lightweight microservices, and distributed and non-relational databases to deliver elastically scalable, globally distributed and highly resilient software services.
This is a hands-on, full development lifecycle role which provides an opportunity to tackle sophisticated business, logic, data and technical challenges. As the leader of your engineering team, you will be required to think creatively and bring ground breaking technology in-house. We will expect you to be agile / to lead / to think outside the box. This is a hands-on Technical Lead of a team supporting Charles River to design, develop, modify, adapt and implement short- and long-term solutions to order management technology needs through the Charles River platform, new and existing applications, systems, databases and applications infrastructure. Reviews and interprets system requirements and business processes.

Accountable for the quality, total cost of ownership, maintainability, and security of a component or application
Capable of leading regular, ongoing development projects and teams
Accountable for the quality, total cost of ownership, maintainability, and security of key components or applications
Contributes to specific elements of the GTS technical strategy
Business knowledge
- You demonstrate a deep knowledge of products/flows within supported businesses
- Articulate broader business concerns and/or regulatory landscape, including key risks and controls (e.g., GDPR, MIFID, SOX)
- You make decisions that are cognizant of the firm’s broader business strategy
Requirements
- BS degree (or equivalent experience) in a related technical discipline and 7+ years of progressive engineering experience.
- Knowledge of the Charles River platform (or an alternative Order Management or Investment Management system- Murex, Calypso, Aladdin) preferred but not required
- Stays current with best-of-breed technologies.
- Software engineering experience in C# and SQL Server
- Stays abreast of industry trends and technologies and knows when/how/if to apply them appropriately
- Experience working with AWS strongly preferred
- Converses in many technologies and learns new technologies quickly
- Defines testing strategy for products and ensures adherence to strategy
- Considers the long-term operation and ownership of systems being developed. Works with partners within agreed operating models.
- Owns technical debt across their development team
- Capable of leading projects in one or more SDLC methodologies (e.g. Scrum), operating with efficiency and transparency

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.
