Senior Software Engineer, DevOps
This is a greenfield opportunity to help us build a scalable operating platform. As the Senior Software Engineer, DevOps you will be responsible for designing and building scalable, maintainable infrastructure and development environments. You will work hand-in-hand with business and technical stakeholders to define architecture needs, and effective tools to meet those needs. You will also support development of custom software solutions to help meet business needs where industry standard tools can not. The successful candidate will be an experienced, inquisitive, quick learner who is knowledgeable of industry standards for CI/CD tools, containerization, cloud computing, and software development best practices.
Responsibilities:
- (20%) Design, implement, and maintain a cloud environment for custom software development and integration between key systems
- (20%) Design, develop, and maintain software solutions that meet business requirements and enhance operational efficiency.
- (20%) Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT, and data teams to design and optimize infrastructure and improve system reliability and performance.
- (15%) Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes for applications and data solutions.
- (10%) Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to enhance system scalability and availability.
- (10%) Document infrastructure architecture, deployment processes, and operational procedures to ensure knowledge sharing within the team.
- (5%) Attain a high re-use of technology while driving process standardization and simplification.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expert in scripting and automation using tools like Python, C#, JavaScript, Bash, and PowerShell
- Proficiency with CI/CD and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Github Actions)
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools
- Strong understanding of software development best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively share insights and solutions with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor�s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines preferred.
- 7+ years overall experience, including 5+ years in DevOps or related roles.
- Experience in managing Infrastructure as Code
- Proven track record of implementing CI/CD processes in software development and data analytics environments.
- Familiarity with database management and ETL processes is a plus.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills
- Must be a strong collaborator, team player and individual contributor
- Clear ability to apply continuous improvement and technology to business processes preferred
