Description
We are looking for a backend engineer with experience on a variety of server-side architectures to develop controlled environment systems and tools for the next generation of greenhouse technologies. This is an opportunity to architect, design, develop and test, as well as engage in other activities such as code reviews, customer meetings and prototyping in support of a variety of the company’s projects. The role offers the opportunity to expand into areas such as: robotics, control systems, embedded systems, big data and machine learning.
Responsibilities
- Design and build data pipelines and services that support greenhouse management operations
- Work with the front end engineering team to determine requirements and implement end to end solutions
- Integrate with other back-end infrastructure that is distributed on premises and in cloud
- Help architect high throughput databases that support plant growth and business tracking
- Support CI/CD and deployment processes
- Analyze and solve problems across all levels of the stack
- Produce clean, secure, testable, maintainable, reusable, well-documented code
Experience & Skills
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related subject
- 4+ years of back-end development experience
- Fluency in relational database technology (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)
- Experience in designing and implementing APIs, with familiarity in micro-services oriented architecture
- Server-side development experience in Python or similar languages (Java, .NET, Golang)
- Automated build platforms/continuous integration experience and knowledge
- Able to jump into new or existing code bases & learn new technologies and skills quickly
- Experience collaborating with a Product owner, UX designer, or Requirements Analyst, etc.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, interpersonal and team participation skills
- Experience with the following areas is a plus:Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes);Front end framework development experience (React, Angular, Vue); Robotics, ROSSpatial systems; Machine learning; Automated deployment (CI/CD, Terraform)
