Position Summary
This is a grant funded position through the Perkins Statewide Leadership Grant.
The purpose of this position is to further develop and expand the Jump Start partnership between Blue Ridge CTC and Berkeley County Schools to include high school Juniors. This part-time position will teach Jump Start students enrolled at Blue Ridge CTC between the hours of 8:00 am – 10:30 am. These classes are taught in-person at either the main campus or Tech Center.
This position may include managing a virtual office as necessary to meet the needs of the position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Dean of IT and Mathematics, the Instructional Specialist will:
- Facilitate Class Instruction. The Instructional Specialist is responsible for teaching the assigned classes in accordance with learning objectives and session plan outlines specified by the syllabus. Course hours will be between 8:00am and 10:30am and courses will be taught in-person.
- Develop and manage syllabus and materials. In conjunction with the respective Program Coordinator, the Instructional Specialist is responsible for selecting and compiling tests, assignments, and/or online discussion exercises that assess student performance relative to standardized learning objectives.
- Coordinate courseware and curriculum with Program Coordinator. The Instructional Specialist is responsible for reviewing any textbook and other courseware changes with the Program Coordinator and other full-time faculty teaching the course.
- Evaluate Student Performance. The Instructional Specialist is expected to administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and course rubrics. All course grades will be posted on the Blackboard Grade Center.
- Respond Promptly to Grade Determination. The Instructional Specialist should submit grades for any assignments, discussion board exercises, and exams and course completion in a timely manner following the due dates required for the Jumpstart +Plus program.
- Record Attendance. The Instructional Specialist will record weekly class attendance in Bridge as required by college policy.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related technology field.
- Master's degree preferred
- Special consideration will be granted to applicants with industry credentials. Candidates without these types of credentials will be required to acquire them on an agreed upon schedule.
Experience- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- BlackBoard experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required - Industry certifications such as CompTIA Sec+, CASP+, CYSA+, PenTest +, EC-Council CEH
