Job Summary
The duties for this position include, but are not limited to, working in close consultation with existing Radford University faculty to develop courses in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, and Data Analytics in an online, competency-based education ( CBE ) format that follows the backward design method and incorporates the learning sciences into the educational content delivery. Work with a team to develop the competencies, objectives and assessments to ensure measurable outcomes and proper alignment for content validity. Provide guidance to learners on content questions and in the use of online simulations and virtual labs. Assist in the quality assurance process by reviewing the IMPACT Lab materials and delivery of the Lab’s academic content through an online learning management system to meet specified requirements and ensure the content and processes of delivery are as close to error free as possible which, in turn, increases customer confidence and satisfaction. The ability to communicate in a positive and supportive fashion is essential to the role. The position provides competitive salary and benefits.
Required Qualifications
A strong understanding of instructional design incorporating the backward design method and incorporating the learning sciences into the educational content delivery. Ability to teach computer and network security courses. Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student centered methods of instruction in the instructional design process of online, asynchronous courses. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
A familiarity with learning management systems, online learning support and the use of technology tools in instruction. Experience working in a competency-based learning environment. Higher education teaching or advising experience. Experience teaching at the undergraduate level. Experience with course development. Experience providing advice/guidance to learners.
