Job Overview
The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) is seeking a seasoned IT Specialist specializing in Data Management and Applications Software. This pivotal role will support the advancement of our data systems and application software, contributing to the efficiency of our operations and services in the Pacific Northwest.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in the strategic planning, development, implementation, and administration of comprehensive data management systems to facilitate data acquisition, storage, integration, transfer, and retrieval.
- Design, develop, and maintain relational databases that align with both current and anticipated organizational needs.
- Oversee and enhance database performance, implementing tuning activities to optimize data management processes.
- Spearhead the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, and support of both new and existing applications software, ensuring functionality and robust performance.
- Provide expert technical guidance to team members and contractors during coding, testing, debugging, and software maintenance phases.
Required Skills
- Profound understanding of data management principles and practices.
- Expertise in database design and performance optimization techniques.
- Strong experience in application development, testing, and support environments.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills for effective information sharing.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Relevant IT-related experience showcasing proficiency in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem-solving.
- A minimum of one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent in the Federal service, particularly in roles involving data management and software applications.
- IT-related education or training, inclusive of relevant certifications, is highly preferred.

Compensation And Benefits
