Job Description
We are seeking a skilled
Systems Engineer in Seattle area to focus on Acumatica.com resilience, WordPress, operations, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) skills to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be experienced at managing, optimizing, and scaling WordPress/company web sites while ensuring high availability, security, and performance. They will collaborate closely with our marketing, existing contractors, IT development, IT operations, network engineering, and security teams to ensure reliable and efficient system operations. Their mission is to improve service performance evidenced by KPIs which objectively demonstrate increased value to Acumatica. The Systems Engineer will extend their reach into supporting other Marketing systems operations, time permitting.
Key Responsibilities
WordPress Environment Management:
- Administer and optimize WordPress installations, including themes, plugins, and custom configurations.
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate deployment and management of WordPress environments.
- Monitor and ensure the security, availability, and performance of WordPress instances.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex WordPress-related issues.
Operations & Infrastructure
- Design, implement, and manage scalable infrastructure in a cloud or hybrid environment (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.).
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment pipelines using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
- Manage Linux/Unix systems and ensure their optimal performance and security.
- Monitor system health, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to ensure uptime and performance.
SRE & Performance Monitoring
- Implement and maintain robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems for WordPress environments.
- Use data-driven approaches to optimize performance, improve reliability, and reduce operational toil.
- Collaborate with development teams to build reliable, fault-tolerant systems, and minimize downtime.
- Perform root cause analysis on production incidents, identifying both immediate fixes and long-term improvements.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure systems meet security standards and follow best practices, including regular patching, vulnerability scanning, and hardening of systems.
- Implement and enforce backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and security threats relevant to WordPress and operations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or in a similar role.
- Strong experience with managing and scaling WordPress environments in production.
- Expertise in Linux/Unix system administration.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and managing infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (PRTG, Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, etc.).
Skills
- Strong understanding of web technologies and experience with web servers (Nginx, Apache).
- Deep knowledge of WordPress architecture, database management (MySQL, MariaDB), and caching strategies (Redis, Varnish).
- Knowledge of networking, DNS, and load balancing.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PHP.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- WordPress development experience (themes, plugins, custom development).
- Familiarity with security frameworks (OWASP, CIS benchmarks).
- Certifications in cloud or DevOps technologies (AWS Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, etc.).
- Fastly SASE/CDN configuration and operations

For this role, the salary range is $108,000-$128,000 annually. This range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job and may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant elements.
At Acumatica, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock for full-time employees. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
