Who are we hiring?
The Senior Director, Security oversees and manages the 24/7 venue security and event security operations and provides strategic and operational guidance to venue security and event security staff. The Senior Director, Security provides direct supervision over the Director(s), Event Security, Director, Venue Security, Manager(s), Venue Security and Field Training Supervisor(s), Event and Venue Security. The Senior Director, Security is responsible for creating a safe working environment for Sphere Entertainment (SPH) Company employees and creating a safe and secure environment that supports the highest level of guest service for clients and guests who visit MSG Company venues.
What will you do? - Develop and implement Standard Operating procedures (SOP), Post Orders, and policies and procedures for venue security and event security including standardizing and conducting shift/roll call briefings for event staff, supervisors’ briefings and meetings, review/prepare staffing assignments and conducting security equipment and venue/event fire and security inspections.
- Direct and manage the administrative process for the completion of event security reporting to include incident reports, event security plans, event summaries, event flash reports and other security related reporting.
- Oversee and direct intelligence gathering related to identifying, evaluating, and addressing threats against the Company and/or its employees. Review event flash report and conduct security investigations as directed by senior MSG/SPH staff and respond in a timely and effective manner to security incidents and emergencies, including review and analyzation of CCTV footage and other security technology support systems.
- Develop and manage the Venue security budget and Workforce employee management system, which includes budget forecasts and routine updates, determining security staffing levels for events and collaborate with internal and external partners to maximize budgeted results and maintain optimal operating efficiency. Oversee and manage the Knowledge Check employee recognition program.
- Act as a liaison to the venue General Manager, internal departments, attend event production meetings with other MSG units to define security requirements and needs for all venue events, as well as with guest and client services and other MSG staff for providing security services for VIPs.
- Act as a liaison and coordinate with local law enforcement, talent and event team security representatives, client representatives and other relevant stakeholders, organizations and agencies, and brief and direct paid detail officers. Oversee internal investigative activities in coordination with local law enforcement, as required.
- In partnership with MSG’s learning and development team, provide regular, recurring, and remedial security training opportunities and establish a staff development training program for building security and event security staff that includes a venue security exercise training program to include regular tabletop and functional exercises with an emphasis on crisis management and emergency response.
- Ensure compliance with all Experience and Live entertainment organizations’ security requirements and requests.
- Provide strategic and operational security advice to the Vice President, Security, Senior Vice President for Threat Management, and venue General Manager.
- Perform all other loosely related security duties as directed to accomplish the overall security mission at MSG/SPH venues which includes liaising and coordinating with other Threat Management Division units on operational security requirements and needs.

What do you need to succeed?
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 12-15 years security operations and management experience and knowledge of events, sports, or theatre operations within a sizeable entertainment venue (candidates with comparable experience in other corporate security and management fields may be considered).
- Four-year degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Post-graduate degree in business or management highly desirable.
- Ability to develop and execute company and departmental standard operating procedures (SOP’s), and effectively articulate and manage security budgetary initiatives, including a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing budgets and executing third party contracts.
- Prior Executive Protection experience desirable although not required.
- Knowledge of CCTV, surveillance equipment, radio communication systems, and life safety systems and fire codes.
- Extensive experience working alongside local and state public safety agencies as well as managing in a union environment and participation negotiating collective bargaining agreements.
- Proven ability to assess, develop and successfully execute strategic internal and external security plans and quickly adapt to change as required by events.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and time management skills required, ideally working alongside C-Suite Executives.
- Must have the ability to work independently and use sound business judgment while dealing with tact, diplomacy, and a commitment to company values.
- Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with a diverse group of people.
Special Requirements - Must be able to work a flexible schedule, and extended hours, inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
- Frequent typing with repetitive motion, sitting, and extensive walking through the building required.

Pay Range
$134,000—$215,000 USD
