Linux Systems Engineer – Chicago
Our client, an industry leading proprietary trading firm and market maker, is looking for a Linux Systems Engineer to join their expanding team. The firm enforces a highly collaborative environment and uses innovative and sophisticated proprietary tools and technologies to edge their competition.
As a Linux Systems Engineer you will be working in a bare-metal environment and helping to architect pioneering tools to maintain the firms industry leading status. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the production environment by designing, deploying and operating the firms bare-metal UNIX servers.
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance of the firms systems as well the full server lifecycle. This includes the constant research and development of new innovative solutions in an ever evolving tech driven firm.
Responsibilities
- Be a key member of the rapidly growing Linux Systems Engineering Team, helping the firm push the boundaries of modern technology.
- Develop new solutions to ensure that the firm is always improving.
- Ensure systems performance is always at a top level and helping resolve any technical issues that arise.
- Help the firm to improve its automation capabilities.
- Remain up to date on all the industries latest technologies and solutions and introducing them as appropriate.
Requirements
- Years of experience working with large scale Linux/Unix servers.
- Highly experienced scripting with Python and using Ansible.
- Proactive team player who is able to collaborate and communicate effectively with a team.
- Strong understanding of Linux Kernel internals, virtualization and networking.
- Curious and innovative personality that allows you to always research and stay up to date with the latest technologies and solutions.
