Bennett Thrasher has an opening for a
Network Security Engineer. This person is responsible for the day-to‐day operations and maintenance of the current network infrastructure, security solutions and implementation of technology initiatives. The Network/Security Engineer will leverage an in-depth understanding of network appliances (switches, firewalls, VPNS, etc.), cyber security threats, technologies and countermeasures to ensure secure computer systems. This often includes tasks like installing and configuring security software and appliances to prevent attacks, educating employees on data security, monitoring and protecting against network breaches, and responding to cyber attacks with the appropriate countermeasures.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the efficient operations of integrated components within the environment such as VPNs, routers, firewalls, switches, etc.
- Install, administer, and troubleshoot network security solutions.
- Maintain network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
- Configure security systems, analyze security requirements, and recommend improvements
- Maintain existing documentation of procedures, operations and network topology.
- Develop and update business continuity and disaster recovery protocols.
- Develop Service Desk Technicians and other staff through mentoring and training.
- Appropriately prioritize both IT projects and day‐to‐day operations.
- Understand business needs, educate staff on technology and how to use it as a strategic asset.
- Stay up to date with key technology development/issues within the technology and accounting industry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or computer related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable.
- Current Sec+, CISSP, CSM, CCNA or equivalent certifications are a must.
- Advance understanding of routing and switching concepts.
- Advance understanding of security systems.
- Minimum 5 years hands-on security and networking support in a Windows‐based computing environment.
- Experience supervising and mentoring team members is a must.
