Description
Reporting organizationally to the Head of Event & Corporate Technology Operations, the Data Protection Senior Manager will be a key member of the FIFA26 Technology team and work in close collaboration with the teams in Mexico, Canada and Zurich and other key individuals responsible for providing expert legal assistance on data protection compliance requirements for the FIFA Men's World Cup 2026 TM (FWC 2026).
THE POSITION
The main responsibilities and oversights of the data protection manager for the FIFA World Cup 26™ include:
- Provide expert legal assistance on data protection compliance requirements, including the performance of data protection impact assessments and managing FIFA's records of processing activities.
- Build and maintain a close relationship with cross-functional teams and external business partners. Work collaboratively to ensure that privacy and data protection principles are incorporated by design into FIFA's products, services, and processes.
- Maintain and enhance FIFA's Data Protection Program to align with evolving domestic and international data protection laws along with best practices.
- Supporting contract negotiations by reviewing data privacy contractual provisions with partners and third-party suppliers, including data processing agreements and data transfer agreements
- Keeping abreast of technological developments, changes in the law, enforcement trends and their impact on data privacy and cybersecurity in the world of football. This includes staying informed about developments specific to the industry and broader trends that could affect our data protection strategies.
- Conducting and overseeing legal research related to data protection.
- Developing guidance, awareness and training as needed for internal and external audiences.
- Managing the cookie consent framework across all FIFA's websites.
YOUR PROFILE
- Master's degree or similar higher education in Law or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in a high-quality law firm or a similar role in-house.
- Seasoned and experienced legal professional with a full understanding of privacy and cybersecurity legal issues, monitoring privacy trends and translating those into actionable guidance or requirements.
- Experience in interacting with data subjects and data protection authorities.
- Strong substantive knowledge of US privacy and cybersecurity laws as well as working knowledge of international privacy and data protection laws.
- Fluent in English
- Fluent in Spanish is a plus
- Proficient in Word / PowerPoint / Excel
- Good knowledge in PowerBI is an advantage
- Good knowledge using the OneTrust Privacy Management Platform is an advantage
