We are looking to hire a Network Administrator for one of our clients located in Des Moines, Iowa. This position requires local Iowa candidates only. This senior-level role is critical in maintaining secure communications, network monitoring, and offering both consulting and architecture services for network infrastructure. The position involves operational support for routers, switches, and firewalls, along with assessing and improving network infrastructure across various executive branch agencies. The rate is between $65 - $75/hr and the work mode is hybrid.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Network Fundamentals: Strong knowledge of network switching, routing, IP addressing, and Internet connectivity (10+ years)
- Technical Support: Senior-level technical support experience in a complex enterprise networking environment, including analytical and problem-solving skills (10+ years)
- IP Networking: Thorough working knowledge of IP networking (10+ years)
- Security and Firewall Administration: Experience with security and firewall administration, including data network implementation (10+ years)
- Advanced Diagnostics: Experience with advanced diagnostics equipment and tools, routing protocols, network management tools, remote access, Ethernet, and WAN technologies (7+ years)
- Specific Technologies: Experience with F5 and Visio (2+ years)
- Cloud Technologies: Experience with cloud networking, particularly AWS and Azure (1+ years)
- Unix Scripting: Skills in Unix scripting languages such as Perl, Bash, TCL, and URL
- VMware: Experience with VMware implementation and administration
Qualification Insights

Job Responsibilities:
- Operational Support: Manage routers, switches, and firewalls to ensure security, performance, capacity, and availability of services
- Network Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain secure network infrastructure in accordance with security standards and best practices
- Network Architecture: Provide network architecture support, including infrastructure assessments, creation of logical and conceptual network diagrams, monitoring, analysis, problem resolution, and changes
- Network Security: Manage networks and systems to prevent unauthorized access while ensuring efficient transmission. Perform log management and monitoring
- Firewall Management: Plan, schedule, and implement access through firewalls in line with security standards and best practices
- Incident/Change Management: Adhere to defined incident/change management processes
