Director of Information Technology
About Us:
Our client, a successful company with a first-class national reputation, is seeking a highly skilled Director of Information Technology to lead a team of approximately nine professionals. Reporting to the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, this role will provide strategic and operational leadership for the firm’s IT function. The Director will develop, implement, and advance technology strategies, roadmaps, solutions, and operations to support the firm’s success in alignment with its goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the firm’s information technology function, including cloud services, security, applications, network infrastructure, telecommunications, audio-visual systems, integration, support, litigation support, and technology training. Prioritize initiatives to ensure the IT strategy aligns with the firm’s overall goals, enabling exceptional business operations and legal service delivery.
- Effectively communicate IT objectives to firm leadership, attorneys, and business staff, fostering strong communication channels with end-users. Serve as a trusted advisor to management, driving improvements in efficiency and effectiveness through automation and innovation.
- Develop and manage the IT budget, contracts, and vendor negotiations, ensuring expenses align with industry standards and deliver value to the firm. Maintain relevant operational metrics for IT functions.
- Provide leadership on all IT-related issues, including privacy, access, and security, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Uphold information security policies, operations, and training in accordance with industry best practices, enhancing the firm’s Governance, Risk, and Compliance program.
- Ensure 24/7 support for the IT function, covering all end-user applications, infrastructure, and devices, while maintaining high system availability and robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Act as a key representative and technology spokesperson for the firm at external events and engage actively in technology networking opportunities.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- 15 to 20 years of extensive information technology experience in a law firm or similarly complex organization
- Proven leadership across all areas of IT, including cloud services, security, applications, network infrastructure, telecommunications, audio-visual systems, integration, support, litigation support, and technology training
- Familiarity with a wide range of technology platforms, tools, systems, and associated budgets
- Possess dynamic energy, a genuine passion for work, tenacity, a strong work ethic, and professionalism that inspires confidence among management, attorneys, and key stakeholders
- Demonstrated expertise in information security, including the controls, policies, and technologies necessary to safeguard the firm
- Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and precision, along with a comprehensive understanding of complex business principles, enabling thorough analyses of business operations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience with legal technology tools (e.g., case management systems, eDiscovery tools)
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or ITIL
- Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and projects
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in the legal industry
- Strong understanding of cloud computing, especially in a legal context
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
