Purpose: The Vice President of Poverty Reduction is responsible for facilitating cross-sector collaborations, initiatives, and projects that advance the community-driven strategy to reduce poverty by 50% in ten years. The work entails planning, organizing, and completing specific projects, working with a collaborative team to demonstrate actionable change efforts and reporting progress across key sectors, leveraging and maintaining stakeholder relationships, and engaging community members and partners. This position is an essential role on the United Way backbone team charged with leading the collective work of reducing poverty. This is a grant-funded position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of a multi-year collective impact plan to reduce poverty by 50% in ten years in the Chattahoochee Valley.
- Coordinate the survey of State-level policies and regulations to identify those that create barriers for individuals and families working to achieve financial self-sufficiency.
- Oversee advocacy work to revise/remove the barriers for individuals and families working to achieve financial self-sufficiency.
- Strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders, community leaders, and nonprofit organizations to leverage relationships, increase collaboration, and promote understanding, driving sustainable, positive change for individuals and communities currently living in poverty.
- Work collaboratively with other UWCV staff and cross-sector coalition partners to implement strategic objectives and promote change in policy, practice, and systems, amplifying successful efforts and exploring ways to scale up.
- Convene meetings and facilitate dialogue that builds trust, enabling internal and external partners to thoughtfully and strategically collaborate across all community sectors.
- Support the continuum of services needed to increase household stability, financial security, and opportunities for mobility.
- Ensure that poverty reduction efforts are consistently informed by community participation by seeking, capturing, analyzing, and incorporating community feedback, assets, and needs into strategies and initiatives.
- Identify and fund innovative pilot projects to support the 10-year plan, propel the work, and lead change.
- Use creative and engaging modes of communication to document the collaborative work of all cross-sector partners by attending events and capturing media, including photos, videos, and interviews with team members and participants.
- Demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and achieve high level of performance across multiple streams of work.
- Understand the role of data and collaboratively develop workflows to track, maintain, prepare, and share and provide quantitative and qualitative reports on poverty reduction efforts and strategic activity with key stakeholders.
- Increase the understanding and impacts of poverty in our community through training, awareness, and engagement of target audiences including UWCV staff, collaborative partners, corporate partners, and community members.
- Work collaboratively with UWCV departments and coalition partners to identify and submit available grant opportunities that support poverty reduction and ensure strategy sustainability and adhere to all grant and contractual terms/agreements.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, administration, social work, or related field. Graduate degree preferred.
- Five plus years of related experience required (e.g., workforce development, social services, local/state government, community engagement, etc.).
- Experience and success in managing relationships and securing support from partners and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to align partners around a shared goal and lead strategic efforts.
- Experience in project management with special attention to establishing success metrics and alignment of deliverables, milestones, and benchmarks.
- Knowledge, experience, and commitment to working in poverty reduction or alleviation, upward economic mobility, and breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty.
- Demonstrated respect for diversity, equity, and inclusiveness in interactions with partners, donors, and community members.
- Commitment to strengthening the Chattahoochee Valley community and reducing the impact of poverty on people’s lives.
- Comfort and proficiency with presentation skills both one-on-one and publicly.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Superior writing skills, attention to detail and high standards for presentation and written material.
- Ability to thrive in a results-driven team environment and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, with minimal supervision.
