Sybersense is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cybersecurity Specialist to join our expanding team in San Diego. The Cybersecurity Specialist will be a vital member to our Cyber Readiness Team supporting the US Navy’s Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, and Intelligence (C5I) Cyber Readiness Program. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the C5I readiness for Navy commands within the Pacific Fleet.
This position requires deep technical expertise in cyber security, network operations, and information assurance, and the ability to provide expert training and guidance to US Navy personnel.

Location: San Diego, CA
Key Responsibilities:
- Cyber Readiness Team Member: Serve as an integral part of the Cyber Readiness team, supporting the cyber operations and security posture of US Navy surface combatants and associated networks. Ensure fleet-wide C5I readiness.
- Network Operations Support: Provide operational support to Navy networks, focusing on readiness, vulnerability assessments, and system hardening. Execute and manage vulnerability scanning processes using DoD tools like Tenable ACAS and WSUS.
- Cyber Security Support: Offer expert cybersecurity guidance and support to US Navy commands in areas of security compliance, information assurance, and incident response.
- Information Assurance Training: Deliver in-depth information assurance training to Information Technicians, IP Officers, and other Navy personnel. Ensure these individuals are equipped with the necessary skills to manage and protect Navy network infrastructures.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in key cybersecurity systems and tools, including: WSUS, HBSS, ePO, ACAS, VRM
- Provide expert-level support for the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of HBSS/ESS systems, including Policy Configuration & Threat Remediation: Develop, analyze, and assign security policies for HBSS/ESS environments. Provide engineering support for database repair, threat analysis, and remediation efforts.
- Collaboration: Work closely with US Navy command teams to assist in deployment and policy analysis for cybersecurity systems. Offer hands-on troubleshooting and guidance for system-level vulnerabilities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, network operations, and information assurance, preferably within a military or defense environment.
- Demonstrated experience with WSUS, HBSS (ePolicy Orchestrator), Tenable ACAS, CANES, and DoD Vulnerability Scanning tools and VRAM
Degree and Certification:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline (or an additional 10 years of relevant experience in place of the degree)
- Active certification in one of the following: Certified in Governance Risk and Compliance, CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+), CompTIA Security+, Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
