Job Overview
The Network Analyst is responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of network systems within the organization. This role involves monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the security and reliability of the network infrastructure. The Network Analyst plays a critical role in supporting business operations by ensuring that all network systems are functioning optimally.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Monitoring: Continuously monitor network performance to ensure the smooth operation of LAN, WAN, and other network systems. Use network monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues before they impact business operations.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, including connectivity problems, hardware failures, and performance bottlenecks. Provide technical support to users and IT teams to resolve network problems efficiently.
- Network Configuration: Assist in the design, implementation, and configuration of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Ensure network configurations adhere to best practices and security standards.
- Security Management: Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access controls. Monitor network traffic for potential security threats and respond to incidents promptly.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures. Ensure that all changes to the network infrastructure are documented and accessible to the IT team.
- Capacity Planning: Analyze network usage and performance data to identify trends and recommend upgrades or enhancements to network infrastructure. Assist in the planning and implementation of network expansions.
- Vendor Management: Work with network hardware and service providers to support network operations. Evaluate and recommend network hardware and software solutions to improve efficiency and performance.
- Disaster Recovery: Participate in the development and testing of disaster recovery plans for network systems. Ensure that backup systems and procedures are in place to minimize downtime in case of network failures.
- User Support: Provide guidance and support to users and IT staff on network-related issues. Conduct training sessions to educate users on best practices for network usage and security.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest network technologies, tools, and best practices. Participate in professional development activities to enhance network management skills.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls). Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Security Knowledge: Familiarity with network security principles and best practices. Experience with implementing and managing firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS systems.
- Project Management: Ability to manage network projects from planning to implementation. Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with IT teams, vendors, and other departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
- Experience with network management in a large or complex organization.
- Familiarity with cloud networking solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure).
