Job Overview: As a Network Engineer at Charter Communications, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support network operations and resolve complex technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Design & Implementation: Develop and implement network solutions that meet the company’s requirements for performance, security, and reliability. This includes designing network layouts, selecting appropriate hardware and software, and overseeing installation and configuration.
- Network Monitoring & Management: Continuously monitor network performance using various tools to ensure optimal operation. Address and resolve network issues promptly to minimize downtime and impact on business operations.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for network-related issues. Collaborate with internal teams to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and effectively.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and potential threats. Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures. Prepare reports on network performance and incidents as required.
- Project Management: Lead and participate in network-related projects, including upgrades, expansions, and migrations. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) are preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in network engineering, with a strong background in designing, implementing, and managing complex network environments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), routing and switching, firewalls, VPNs, and network security practices. Experience with network monitoring tools and technologies.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and independently as needed.
