Northstrat has an opening for a Senior Systems Administrator, supporting Linux operating systems on our factory development/test network as well as edge and cloud production environments. This position is primarily located in Sterling, VA but may also be performed at CACI facilities in Aurora, CO.
Some Continental US and International travel may be required up to 10% as well as surge support.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline. 8 plus years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree
- System administration experience with Red Hat
- Must have an active TS/SCI w/CI poly
- Knowledge and experience in system administration processes
- A DoD 8570-compliant certification or ability to achieve certification within 6-months of hire (A+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, SSCP, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CASP+ CE, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH, CCSP)
- Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience hosting applications in RH Enterprise Linux OS
- Experience with Scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Bash, etc.)
- The ability to support ISSO and ISSEs in obtaining and maintaining system security certification and accreditation
- Must be willing to meet all customer requirements to facilitate a system installation at DoD facility
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Puppet, VMWare, and Ansible
- Excellent communication skills in technical, business, and client interactions
- Experience administering or architecting cloud-based environments
- Experience with DevOps and respective tools
- Experience with any infrastructure management and provisioning tools (Satellite, Foreman)
- Experience with containerization
- Experience with Ticket tracking tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence)
- Experience building and configuring Virtual Machines (VMs)
- Experience with virtualization such as VMware, Red Hat Virtualization, KVM or Hyper-V
- Experience with network attached storage (NAS) or equivalent shared storage systems
- Experience with installing and configuring server hardware (HP, Dell)

Flex Time
Northstrat does not mandate specific working hours. Although project requirements may dictate schedules, a Northstrat employee is only required to work an average of 8 hours per weekday over the course of a month. For example: John worked 12 hours on June 1st to meet a project deadline. On June 15th, John only worked 4 hours because he left early for a long weekend. IBA Benefits accrue each month in the amount equivalent to 50% of the employee's monthly compensation rate. That is, the effective dollar amount of this accrual is in addition to an employee's salary.
Profit Sharing Plan (PSP)
The PSP is a qualified retirement plan that Northstrat funds semi-annually on the employee's behalf through the IBA in the amount equivalent to 25% (up to the IRS contribution limit) of the employee's compensation. That is, of the 50% accrual in the IBA, half of the amount accrued is applied to the PSP.
Stock Options
Because Northstrat is an employee-owned company, all new employees are offered stock options. Employees have the opportunity to receive additional stock options based on accomplishment of individual performance goals. Stock owners elect the Board of Directors and are directly impacted by the success of the company.
