Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Onsite - South Plainfield, NJ or Burlington, Boston, MA
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team. This role requires an individual who can provide production support, architecture, life-cycle management, and configuration of networking components in a global enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of secure network architecture and hands-on experience with Cisco, Meraki, and Palo Alto products, as well as AWS networking services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support for switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, and network appliances within a global enterprise environment.
- Complete detailed documentation and cross-training initiatives.
- Collaborate with other teams to resolve network issues and deliver comprehensive solutions.
- Respond to network-related incidents, service requests, and project tasks efficiently.
- Plan, order, and implement LAN/WAN/Wireless equipment.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network requests, problems, and outages in a timely manner with support from vendors and in-house resources.
- Guide and mentor other members of the IT organization.
- Ensure secure network architecture through robust design and implementation practices.
- Install, configure, and maintain Cisco & Meraki routers/switches, and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Work with AWS networking services, including VPN, VPC, Route53, and Security Groups.
- Build, upgrade, and configure both new and existing system components.
- Provide technical documentation for solutions, including diagrams, test plans, and requirements.
- Collaborate with outside vendors on the planning and installation of data/voice communication networks.
- Travel to remote sites as needed (up to 20%).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications.
- 6-8+ years of in-depth technical knowledge in platform-specific systems and/or network operations.
- Extensive experience with LAN/WAN, SDWAN, VLAN, EIGRP, OSPF, VPNs, MPLS, NAT, QOS, and SSL.
- Proven experience in supporting enterprise infrastructure.
- Expertise in configuring and supporting enterprise-grade network equipment (routers, switches, wireless, firewalls).
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Skills & Experience - Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCDA, PCNSA, PCNSE).
- Experience with Network Performance Monitoring Tools.
- Project Management experience.
- Technical expertise in:
- Cisco Networking Equipment (CatOS, IOS)
- Meraki Networking Equipment (Switches, Wireless, Firewalls)
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- VPN configuration (Palo Alto Global Protect)
- AWS Networking (VPN, VPC, Route53, Security Groups)
- DNS/DHCP management
- 6-8+ years’ experience in network design, deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a growing, dynamic environment.
