OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
Accountable for establishing and managing all aspects of the Information Technology (IT) organization by focusing on Governance Structures, Resource Management, Cross Functional Processes, Infrastructure, and Customer Service/Cost Transparency. The objective of this position is to create and lead an agile IT organization by effectively managing different roles simultaneously, including IT Strategist, IT Functional Leader, Business Strategist, Technology Advocate and Change Agent.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Master’s degree with a major in a field related to the major duties of the position preferred.
2. Ten (10) years of progressively responsible management experience involved with a large information technology function.
3. Knowledge of or experience with the information needs of a large metropolitan school District.
4. Understanding the impact and need for technology throughout the district - and the relationship between curriculum, instructional and technology in providing a teaching and learning environment.
5. Strong work knowledge of financial measurements, such as total cost of ownership and return on investment, and the ability to translate that into realistic budgets.
6. Understanding of data-driven decision making and the role information needs to play in shaping and supporting a District’s educational programs.
7. Strong communication skills and the ability to provide leadership to stakeholders in the utilization of communication resources.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
1. Identifies and implements the appropriate governance structures for the organization, such as committees and service-level agreements.
2. Measures system performance and ensures that systems are up and running and that technology fully utilized.
3. Manages the infrastructure by establishing policies and procedures; developing procurement and refresh strategies; and implementing security and anti-virus procedures.
4. Ensure tight collaboration across departments to drive strategic initiatives, including understanding of the alignment between technology strategy and various technology road maps.
5. Develops plans for achieving the appropriate infrastructure and organizational structure for IT to be a value-added partner to the district.
6. Creates and manages the IT budget and motivates IT employees to achieve their true potential, establishes internal operational processes that keep employees well informed and professionally developed.
7. Understands District goals and objectives and applies technology solutions to meet the district’s goals and objectives.
8. Continually researches new products and “state of the art” solutions that could improve the business.
9. Participates on steering committees for a large-scale change initiative and uses his/her influence to demonstrate the benefits of change.
10. Performs other duties related to the general administrative responsibilities of the position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This work requires the following physical activities: sitting, mobility, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors.
