What You Will Do
As Systems Engineer, you will plan, design, monitor, support, and integrate the Center's on-prem and cloud-based systems. This will include installation, supporting and maintaining servers or other computer systems, planning for and responding to service outages and other problems, systems-related project management, and serving as an escalation point for tickets or other technology issues.
The Opportunity
- Analyze and resolve configuration, network, software, and communications problems within the center's AWS cloud environment using diagnostic software and/or technical troubleshooting processes.
- Design, configure, and maintain up-to-date documentation of the enterprise environment with appropriate hardware, operating systems software, applications software, and communications components to support business requirements. Assess the ongoing performance and effectiveness of systems and resources
- Research in-network systems and related technologies and ensures the network environment is compatible with existing applications and security requirements. Establish methods and procedures for use of network systems including hardware, software, and communications devices
- Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting functions for the organization's infrastructure
- Conduct on-going system audits to evaluate the utility and efficiency of the system's hardware, software, and communications components and the effectiveness in meeting center-wide information needs.
- Document activities in the center's Help Desk software, track and route problems and requests, document resolutions, and prepare activity reports
- Evaluate and recommend network software and hardware for the Center
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and procedures for center infrastructure and services
- Coordinate with management staff for the acquisition of hardware, software, and information technology services and maintenance
- Cross-train team members on owned systems to ensure no lapses in service or availability
This position is designed to be a hybrid role, splitting time between the office and a work from home environment.
This position may require minimal travel to trainings or conference events, as needed.

- Bachelor's degree in related field required. Minimum 10 years related experience may be accepted in lieu of educational requirements
- Minimum 5 years of related AWS and systems experience required.
Additional knowledge requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of Amazon Web Services including, but not limited to, RDS, Aurora, Cloudformation, IAM, Json, and CI/CD
- Working knowledge of Linux OS, Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365 Suite of products, diagnostic utilities, Windows Server 2019/2022, Powershell, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, VMware, Yaml, basic networking
