Overview: The Network Engineer will be responsible for building, operating, and maintaining network devices installed in Virginia DC, supporting activities related to the project, including configuring routing protocols, providing network information, and configuring ports and VLAN extensions. The role also involves supporting the migration from Denver to Richardson DC.
Position: Network Engineer
Responsibilities
- Create complete end-to-end plans including designs and/or upgrades for enterprise-wide LANs/WANs.
- Coordinate modifications to the network environment with other IT departments and change management.
- Develop Concepts of Operation, Requirements, Basis of Design, and critical design documents and drawings.
- Perform fault isolation and resolution in a methodical, thorough manner.
- Assist with life-cycle management evaluations and recommendations.
- Design and operate networks using routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, route leaking, route redistribution, route-maps, etc.
- Work with WAN technologies, MPLS, DMVPN, VRF, etc.
- Install, configure, and maintain Cisco switches Catalyst 9000 Series and Nexus, stackwise, and protocols like STP, RSTP, MSTP, PVST, R-PVST, PVST, VPC.
- Utilize network management applications and related protocols such as SNMP and NetFlow, SolarWinds, NetBrain, Wireshark.
- Support change control after hours or on weekends.
Requirement Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer.
- Experience in network planning/designing including developing Concepts of Operation, Requirements, Basis of Design, and critical design documents and drawings.
- Proficiency in routing/switching protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, route leaking, route redistribution, route-maps, etc.
- Knowledge of WAN technologies like MPLS, DMVPN, VRF.
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst 9000 Series / Cisco Nexus Series, Stackwise, STP, RSTP, MSTP, PVST, R-PVST, VPC, SNMP, NetFlow, SolarWinds, NetBrain, Wireshark.
- Preferred: CCNA/CCNP or higher Cisco certifications.
