We are currently seeking a Systems Administrator with advanced technical expertise to join our dedicated IT team and support our educational mission.
Salary: $60,000-$65,000
Job Summary
As a Systems Administrator at Empowerment Academy Charter School, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our educational technology infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining our complex IT systems, providing technical support, and helping to create a conducive learning environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced IT professionals to advance their career in the field of educational technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support: Provide advanced technical assistance to students, teachers, and staff, addressing issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- System Administration: Manage and maintain systems such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 EDU, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra Identity, and Intune for Education.
- Network Management: Oversee network infrastructure design and topology, including the management of VPN tunnels, and troubleshoot network outages.
- Firewall and Security: Manage Sophos XG-XGS Firewall or equivalent systems, ensuring robust security protocols are in place.
- Hardware Maintenance: Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of computers, laptops, tablets, projectors, and other educational technology devices.
- Software Support: Install, troubleshoot, and upgrade software applications used in the educational environment, including learning management systems, productivity software, and educational software.
- User Training: Offer training and guidance to end-users on technology usage and best practices.
- Documentation: Keep detailed records of support requests, resolutions, and IT equipment inventory.
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Proactively diagnose and resolve issues with cloud and internal servers and services.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors such as UniFi and Extreme Networks for network solutions and support.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT or a certifications in related field preferred.
- Extensive experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 EDU, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra Identity, and Intune for Education.
- Proven expertise in managing Sophos XG-XGS Firewall or equivalent, and VPN tunnels.
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure design, topology, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with UniFi and Extreme Networks solutions is a plus.

- Must be local to New Jersey or Jersey City, NJ. No applicants residing outside of the USA will be considered as this is an on-site position
- Prior experience in an educational setting is a plus but not required.
