We are seeking an experienced IBM i Systems Manager to join our team in Northwest Houston.
Position Overview
As an IBM i Systems Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of our IBM i (formerly AS/400 or iSeries) systems. Your role is crucial in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of these systems. You will also coordinate with 3rd party providers, including outsourced services, hardware and software suppliers, and other relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- System Management: Oversee and manage the daily operation, maintenance, and optimization of IBM i (AS/400 or iSeries) systems.
- Reliability & Security: Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of IBM i systems through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
- Coordination with Providers: Collaborate with 3rd party providers, including outsourced services, hardware and software vendors, and suppliers, to ensure seamless system integration and support.
- Performance Optimization: Implement and manage strategies to optimize system performance, including system tuning, resource management, and capacity planning.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures. Provide regular reports on system performance, incidents, and resolutions.
- Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure compliance with industry best practices, company policies, and regulatory requirements related to system management and data security.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high levels of performance and productivity.
Requirements
- Experience: 10+ years of experience managing AS/400/iSeries systems.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder.
- Location: Onsite presence required 3 days per week in Northwest Houston, TX.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of IBM i (AS/400 or iSeries) systems, including hardware, software, and operating system components.
- Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with team members, stakeholders, and 3rd party providers.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues.
