Director of Risk Intelligence
TorchStone Global’s mission is to help our customers provide a safe and secure work environment for employees. Our customer requires a Director of Risk Intelligence to join the Internal Protection (IP) Program within our customer’s organization. The Director will report to the Chief Security Officer as they seek to establish the infrastructure, expertise and operational excellence of a world-class Global Security Intelligence program.
The Director is responsible for providing intelligence sufficiency, oversight and deconfliction management on all collection and analysis. They are also responsible for imagining and collaborating with customer leadership to create a Risk Intelligence team that substantively and holistically contributes to analysis and assessment in the organization, but also supports investigative activities associated to insider threat events, workplace violence issues, compliance, policy or conduct events. As the primary driver of the intelligence-led security program, the Director supports the activities of the investigations group as they collaborate with law enforcement on criminal matters under customer scope. The threats include but are not limited to reports of major theft or vandalism, theft of intellectual property, unauthorized disclosures, fraud, counterintelligence, counterespionage, threats to self, threat to others, and workplace violence.
The Director will create a framework for and maintain the organization’s strategic alignment and performance standards for the intelligence analysis and threat monitoring capacity. They will lead enterprise efforts to ensure that threats are well identified before they can impact customer business processes, IP, employee safety or the reputation of the brand. They will create, lead and grow a robust intelligence capacity that is to work well independently, but also in collaboration with global security, investigations, external law enforcement and external intelligence organizations. They will also create an overall strategy for a protective intelligence capability that meets the needs of executives and assists protection teams as they implement operational strategies in line with intelligence recommendations.
The Director plays a key role in ensuring a safe and secure work environment for the client and is a key source supporting the executive team. The Director works closely with the IP Team to develop and refine metrics for measuring and validating Corporate Internal Protection performance, and to develop and maintain relationships with HR, Legal, Global Security, Global Investigations and other investigative resources across the client’s enterprise.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive the vision and implementation of the customer’s intelligence collection and analysis and provide frameworks for implementing intelligence-led security management.
- Create a team that is dedicated to complete accountability for timely and accurate analyses that enables global security to respond seamlessly to mitigate risks and threats to business operations or the safety of the customer’s employees, customers and guests.
- Provide insight, interpretation, and mentorship on international law enforcement information, intelligence alerts, potential threats to company interests or employee safety.
- Communicate with key partners in Business Resilience, Disaster Recovery, Security Operations and more, including briefings on identified risks and delivery of custom forward-looking global resilience risk assessments on an as-needed basis.
- Provide intelligence analysis mentorship, adequate training, feedback & performance reviews, and perform administrative duties as required.
- Assist the CSO as they build and grow a robust intelligence capacity with the use of third-party vendors, sourced platforms such as Ontic, Dataminr, etc. Align the organizations work of all security service areas with this capacity. The Director will be solely responsible for the “tools and tech” approach of the organization.
- Leverage and prioritize multiple third-party partners, a critical function of this role, including vendor management and familiarity with intelligence platforms, mass notification solutions, and other third-party resources.
- Work with contract partners to prepare, maintain, and manage detailed risk intelligence assessments of regions, countries, and specific business locations. Prepare regular briefs on security issues for dissemination within the company.
- Possess highly developed written and verbal communication skills, clear and precise writing ability, and effective interpersonal skills.
- Regularly review and implement strategic improvement plans for the Intelligence Team.
- Collaborate with data scientist, data engineers and behavioral scientist to develop requirements, refine data algorithms and detection models to assist in the design, development and deployment of visualization tools for use by analysts, investigators, and managers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field of study including but not limited to Intelligence Studies, Journalism, Security Management, or International Relations
10 years of experience conducting civil, law enforcement, insider threat, or counterintelligence investigations, and working with case management systems.
5 years of experience leading and training a team supporting insider threat, law enforcement or counter-intelligence investigations; to include the use of respective programs and tools.
Demonstrated experience working with Behavioral Scientist to establish requirements for investigative tools and employing sentiment/text analytics and anomaly detection in an insider threat detection program.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook).
Experience using a Centralized Case Management System.
Intermediate level of experience using Excel to manipulate data to present metrics and visualization products (graphs, charts, metrics reports, etc.).
Experience implementing change management processes that present clear, concise, logic-based conclusions to support and inform the executive decision-making process.
Possess proficient written and verbal communication skills, clear and precise writing skills, effective interpersonal skills, acute attention to detail, and strong work ethic.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and in a small team; capable of leveraging team-mates for maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
Willing to learn new methods to seemingly familiar problems/situations and help implement new ideas to drive the program forward.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Successfully completed a Law Enforcement, Federal or DOD Criminal or Counterintelligence Investigations Program (Federal Law Enforcement Tracing Center, FBI, Military Component, etc.).
Counter-Insider Threat Professional-Fundamentals Certification (CCITP-F).
Counter-Insider Threat Professional-Analysis Certification (CCITP-A).
Insider Threat Hub Operations Course.
WORK LOCATION AND COMPENSATION PACKAGE
The location for this position is in Foster City CA. Cash compensation for this position is set at $200,000 annually. The incumbent will have full access to the suite of TorchStone benefits including 401(k) match at 6%, full M/D/V as well as various life insurance and ADD options offered.
