Title: I9 Specialist
Location: Burbank, CA (Onsite Mon - Thurs and Remote on Fridays)
Duration: 12+ months
Compensation: $30.00-$32.00/Hour
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.
The I-9 Analyst oversees the work authorization approval process for the producing TV Animation entity, ensuring that all US Employees of the producing entity are authorized to work in the United States. The I-9 Analyst serves as a liaison between show productions and Legal Affairs to confirm that the producing entity is compliant with USCIS regulations.
• Conduct regular phone and in-person training sessions with productions instructing crew members and other authorized representatives of the company in I-9 Compliance Procedures.
• Review completed TV Production I-9s for errors and coordinate correction of errors with production staff.
• Verify I-9 forms in person and review supporting documentation.
• Interface between productions and Immigration Legal to obtain visas for certain talent and clear aliens authorized to work for employment.
• After gathering necessary information, draft supporting documents for visa petitions.
• Stay up to date with developments in USCIS regulations and update training procedures and company policies as needed.
Basic Qualification:
• 2 Years Experience
• Experience/Passion for Entertainment Business - TV Production
• Experience leading effective training sessions with groups of up to forty people. Note: some local travel will be required in the course of conducting trainings; mileage will be reimbursed.
• Ability to balance attention to detail with understanding of big-picture issues.
• Extreme attention to detail and ability to efficiently process large amounts of paperwork.
• Capacity to anticipate potential scheduling and logistical issues and proactive attitude towards problem-solving.
• Strong advisory skills.
• Interest in immigration law and capability for understanding complicated workflows related to various immigration-related situations. Knowledge of the immigration process is a plus, but not a requirement.
• General understanding of the demands of television production.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Legal Experience
Previous experience/background working with I9 forms.
Knowing what is required - these are legal documents.
Able to work with Creative Talent - this can sometimes be difficult - must be stern and show authority.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from 4-year college or university
