Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Security Tester to join our cybersecurity team. The Security Tester will be responsible for identifying vulnerabilities, assessing risks, and ensuring the security of our software applications through thorough security testing and assessments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and security best practices.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Conduct security testing activities, including penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and ethical hacking, to identify security vulnerabilities in applications, systems, and networks.
- Develop and execute security test plans, test cases, and methodologies based on security requirements and industry standards (e.g., OWASP Top 10, NIST).
- Perform manual and automated security testing using tools such as Burp Suite, Metasploit, Nessus, or similar.
- Analyze security test results, identify security weaknesses, and prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk assessment.
- Collaborate with development teams to remediate security findings and provide recommendations for security improvements.
- Participate in security reviews, code reviews, and threat modeling sessions to identify potential security risks early in the development lifecycle.
- Document security testing processes, findings, and recommendations in clear and concise reports.
- Stay updated with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
- Provide guidance and support to team members on security testing techniques and methodologies.
Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field (relevant experience and certifications may substitute).
- Proven experience as a Security Tester, Penetration Tester, Ethical Hacker, or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing security testing projects.
- Hands-on experience with security testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Burp Suite, Metasploit, Nessus).
- Knowledge of web application security, network security, and operating system security principles.
- Familiarity with secure coding practices and common security vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, XSS, CSRF).
- Understanding of cryptography, encryption algorithms, and authentication protocols.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation of security testing tasks (optional but advantageous).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
