Purpose of Your Job Position:
The Systems Administrator plays a pivotal role in maintaining the comprehensive technology systems and infrastructure that support our business as a member of the Information Technology (IT) team. The Systems Administrator is responsible for researching, designing, troubleshooting, and configuring the digital and physical technology assets that support RF. This position will coordinate with our in-house Security Team to mitigate threats and implement technologies using the latest IT tools to ensure our security posture.
The Systems Administrator’s goal is to be the first line of defense for troubleshooting as well as setting up and maintaining core technology systems. This position reports to the Manager, IT Infrastructure and Security and works closely with our Security and Data Analytics teams.
Responsibilities:
Systems Maintenance & Monitoring
- Monitor system performance and ensure the availability and reliability of servers, networks, and associated systems for the business.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, patches, and backups to ensure system security and integrity.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and implement solutions promptly to minimize downtime.
- Implement and maintain system monitoring tools to proactively detect and address issues.
User Support & Training
- Deliver prompt technical support to our staff as the first line of defense including troubleshooting hardware and software problems and resolve technical issues.
- Assist users with system configurations, installations, and upgrades as needed.
- Develop and maintain user documentation, tutorials, and training materials to help users effectively utilize system resources.
- Craft an onboarding experience for new users and serve as a go-to resource for staff.
Security
- Enforce security policies and procedures to protect systems, network, and data from unauthorized access or breaches.
- Conduct regular security audits and software checks to identify vulnerabilities and implement appropriate security measures.
- Stay informed of the latest security threats, trends, and best practices to proactively mitigate risks.
Infrastructure Management
- Manage and maintain the IT infrastructure, including hardware provisioning, configuration, and optimization of user devices.
- Monitor cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Utilize cloud-based tools to roll out and push updates and applications.
Documentation & Reporting
- Document and track hardware and software inventory to ensure proper asset management and license compliance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Collaborate with other departments to document integration points and dependencies with other systems.
Qualifications:
Associate’s, Bachelor's, and/or Technical degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer or Systems Engineering, or related technical field or at least 3-5 years of hands-on IT systems experience
Desirable:
- CompTIA A+ or Microsoft certifications
- Working knowledge of virtualization or equivalent
- Working experience with administering in cloud services
- Working knowledge with multiple security technologies include endpoint protection
- Experience with scripting and automation tools
- Demonstrated understanding of best practices in IT strategies, policies, and principles
- Strong leadership qualities and communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills and high attention to detail
