Overview: We are looking for a skilled IT Disaster Recovery Manager to join our team and lead our disaster recovery (DR) planning and implementation efforts. As an IT Disaster Recovery Manager, you will be responsible for developing robust disaster recovery strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the resilience and continuity of our IT infrastructure and systems. Your role will be pivotal in preparing for and responding to potential disasters or disruptions, minimizing downtime, and safeguarding our organization's data and operations.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive IT disaster recovery plans, policies, and procedures aligned with business continuity objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with IT teams, business units, and external stakeholders to assess risks, identify critical systems and applications, and establish recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
- Conduct business impact analysis (BIA) to prioritize systems and resources for disaster recovery planning and investment.
- Define and execute disaster recovery testing, simulations, and drills to validate recovery capabilities and improve response readiness.
- Establish and maintain relationships with third-party vendors, service providers, and partners to support disaster recovery capabilities and mutual assistance agreements.
- Monitor and evaluate emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technological advancements to enhance disaster recovery strategies and resilience.
- Develop communication plans and protocols to ensure timely and effective notification and coordination during disaster recovery incidents.
- Coordinate with incident response teams and management during actual disasters or disruptions to implement recovery plans and restore operations.
- Document post-incident reviews, lessons learned, and recommendations for continuous improvement of disaster recovery plans and procedures.
- Provide regular updates, reports, and presentations to senior management and stakeholders on disaster recovery preparedness, incidents, and recovery efforts.
Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Continuity, or a related field; Master’s degree or certifications in business continuity/disaster recovery preferred.
- Proven experience as an IT Disaster Recovery Manager, Business Continuity Manager, or similar role with hands-on experience in disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery principles, methodologies, and best practices (e.g., BCP, ISO 22301, NIST SP 800-34).
- Experience with disaster recovery tools, technologies, and solutions, including backup and recovery systems, cloud-based DRaaS, and replication technologies.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to disaster recovery planning (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
