- Deal Structuring & Execution: Play a crucial role in structuring and executing new investments. This includes hands-on involvement in negotiating, structuring, and closing both new platform investments and add-on acquisitions.
- Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Rand & Co’s operating team and portfolio companies on strategic and financial initiatives. This includes the development, tracking, and management of KPIs and other critical metrics.
- Board Participation: Actively participate as a member of the Board of Directors for portfolio companies, engaging extensively with senior management and external board members.
- Exit Strategies: Be deeply involved in exit monetization strategies, including recaps, sales processes, and other exit strategies.
- Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior investment professionals, fostering their development and growth.
- Industry Research: Lead focused industry research and thematic investment initiatives to identify trends and opportunities within preferred sectors.
- Presentation & Reporting: Excel at distilling incomplete or fragmented information into clear, thoughtful investment committee-level presentations. Deliver concise, well-structured outputs, especially when data quality is inconsistent.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5+ years of experience at top global or prominent middle-market strategy consulting firms, ideally with relevant exposure to due diligence. Alternatively, 3-5 years of experience at well-established global or leading middle-market investment banks, or a combination of both. Alternatively, 2+ years of experience at private equity or credit investment firms.
- Skills: Strong analytical skills with deep understanding of financial markets. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Initiative: High level of initiative and self-motivation, with a strong desire to contribute to the success of the team and the firm.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: A strong interest in transitioning towards entrepreneurship, private equity, or principal investing.
- Education: A record of academic excellence from a leading undergraduate institution; an MBA is a plus but not a requirement.
- Application: Candidates interested in this position should include a redacted short-form version of a teaser, investment committee memo, or industry sizing and review analysis they have completed, along with their résumé.
