Job Summary: The Network Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining all of the company’s data networks including (WAN/LAN) and accompanying hardware (routers, access points, switches, firewalls). This position will ensure that the company’s networks align with overall business goals, growth, and objectives. The network is the primary mechanism allowing end users to access all systems across the various company locations in a secure, scalable, and efficient manner.
Job Duties
- Network Management: Closely manage network systems to ensure data networks are operational and necessary automatic failover and/or redundant services are in place to minimize unforeseen outages for high availability purposes. Oversee network architectures and solutions such as LAN, WAN and VPNs. Be a technical liaison between the company and third-party network and information service providers.
- Network Maintenance & Performance: Monitor the company’s overall network to ensure solutions and systems are operating at peak performance and identify potential issues before they negatively impact end user system access and usage. Work to keep systems up to date with latest patches, software upgrades, firmware upgrades and technical advancements.
- Network User Access and Rights: Work closely with the Infrastructure and Cyber security teams to ensure users have appropriate levels of access to the company’s network. Implement least privilege protocols as a mechanism to secure the network and prevent unauthorized access.
- Security Protocols: Ensure the network and ancillary systems are secure and compliant with industry standards. Work closely with the Cyber security team to harden the overall network from external threats.
- Security policies: Maintain network security via firewall policies and work closely with the Cyber Security team when required
- Network Hardware and Software: Maintain and assist with installation of the company’s network infrastructure in a multi-location nationwide company. Configure and manage all routers, access points, switches, firewalls and other related networking equipment.
- Trouble ticket management: Interact with helpdesk technicians and field escalated network issue tickets submitted by end users
- Troubleshoot and Resolve Networking Issues: Quickly address and resolve network related issues. Work closely with 3rd party providers when necessary.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in networking hardware, software and technologies to drive continuous improvement and knowledge growth.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s / Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Network Administration or related work experience.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience supporting data networks for large multi-location companies. Certifications such as Network+, CCNA, CCNP and/or CompTIA Network/Security+ are desirable.
- Professional career skills: Strong communicator, process oriented, team player, organizational skills, maintain high level of professionalism dealing with end users.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in latest networking services, systems and common networking protocols. Strong knowledge of SD-WAN technologies, Fortinet Firewalls, Unifi equipment & management, Virtual Private Networks, VOIP.
