Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a
hands-on IT Fleet Maintenance Expert with a strong background in
Infrastructure and Cybersecurity and
direct experience with Maritime Systems. This individual will play a key role in the
daily technical operations,
cybersecurity oversight, and
vendor/MSP management to ensure the security, reliability, and efficiency of IT systems supporting our maritime fleet and shore-based operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Leadership
- Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing optimization of a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to safeguard critical company data and infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and government security standards, particularly for contracts related to defense and national security.
- Proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate cybersecurity risks in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external security experts.
- Respond to and manage security incidents, conducting root-cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
- Monitor and maintain the security of maritime IT systems and networks, ensuring all assets are properly protected and updated.
Maritime IT Systems & Technical Operations
- Provide day-to-day technical support and oversight for shipboard and shore-based maritime IT systems (navigation systems, communication tools, SCADA, etc.).
- Support system updates, patching, performance optimization, and operational continuity across the maritime fleet.
- Collaborate with marine engineers, vessel operators, and port teams to ensure all onboard IT systems align with safety, compliance, and mission objectives.
Vendor & MSP Management
- Manage relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and third-party vendors, ensuring delivery of high-quality, cost-effective services in line with SLAs.
- Lead vendor selection and performance evaluation processes, ensuring all partners comply with US Ocean’s technical, security, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate and oversee IT projects and incident resolution in partnership with external technology providers.
IT Service Management
- Oversee incident management, service requests, and IT asset lifecycle, ensuring timely response and documentation of technical issues.
- Collaborate with MSPs to optimize the IT service desk function, improving support responsiveness and user satisfaction.
- Maintain high service quality and uptime through effective oversight of infrastructure, network health, and support tools.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 5+ years of IT experience with a focus on cybersecurity, infrastructure, and systems administration.
- Hands-on experience with maritime technologies, including shipboard communication systems, navigation systems, and port-based IT infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of NIST, ISO 27001, and other relevant cybersecurity frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in vendor and MSP management, including contract and performance oversight.
- Familiarity with government security regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., DFARS, CMMC).
Preferred:
- Experience supporting DoD or government contracts.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, Network+, or PMP.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
