Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing our company’s systems infrastructure, ensuring high levels of performance, security, and availability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- System Maintenance and Monitoring: Oversee the daily operation of servers, storage devices, and networking equipment to ensure uptime and performance.
- Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Network Administration: Manage and optimize network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup strategies to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery preparedness.
- Software Deployment and Updates: Coordinate the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of software applications and updates across the organization.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Respond to and resolve technical issues escalated from junior administrators or end-users.
- Documentation and Compliance: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Capacity Planning: Monitor system capacity and performance trends; propose and implement scalability improvements as needed.
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with other IT team members and departments to support their technical needs and initiatives.
- Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be willing to work outside of standard business hours based on business needs (evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in system administration, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Technical skills required:
- Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux server environments.
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud environments.
- Familiarity with network protocols and security (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls).
- Hands-on experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) preferred.

- Amazon AWS (S3, EC2, SQS, SNS, CloudFront)
- Microsoft Active Directory (Azure Active Directory)
- Cisco / Meraki core and edge switch platforms, wireless networks
- Microsoft / Office 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, MS Teams)
- Zoom VoIP Communications Platform
- VMWare, Microsoft Windows Server, CentOS operating systems
- Apple OS X, iOS
- Storage network experience, preferably 500 plus TB
- Backup and recovery solutions
