Position Summary:
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of both Windows and Linux server environments. This role ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of IT infrastructure and associated systems, supporting business operations and user needs across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, etc.).
- Manage Linux-based systems (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL), including patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Support and maintain enterprise applications hosted on both Windows and Linux platforms.
- Implement system upgrades, security patches, and backups across environments.
- Perform system performance monitoring and tuning to ensure optimal system uptime and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with IT security to ensure systems are hardened, secure, and compliant with internal policies.
- Automate administrative tasks and deployments using scripting tools (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.).
- Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience administering Windows Server and Linux environments in enterprise settings.
- Strong experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, file/print services, and server virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
- Proficiency with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and system management.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery tools (e.g., Veeam, Commvault) and monitoring systems (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds).
