Job Description: Remote Contract Data Privacy Consultant
Position: Data Privacy Consultant (Remote, Contract)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Data Privacy Consultant with a strong focus on GDPR and other privacy frameworks to join our team on a contract basis. This role involves performing compliance assessments, data mapping, and providing expert advice to help clients enhance their privacy programs. You will work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure data protection compliance, provide actionable insights, and support continuous privacy best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct GDPR gap assessments to identify compliance gaps and areas for improvement.
- Perform comprehensive data mapping exercises, documenting data flows, processing activities, and storage in line with privacy regulations.
- Provide expert advisory services on GDPR compliance, privacy by design, and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).
- Advise on the development and implementation of privacy policies, notices, and procedures in accordance with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws.
- Collaborate with clients to implement data privacy controls and ensure continuous compliance with applicable privacy regulations.
- Keep up to date on global privacy laws, advising clients on developments and their potential impact.
- Assist in responding to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and handling other privacy-related obligations.
- Provide training and education to internal teams and stakeholders on privacy best practices and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of proven experience in GDPR compliance, data privacy gap assessments, and data mapping.
- In-depth understanding of global privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and others.
- Expertise in creating and managing privacy documentation, including policies and DPIAs.
- Strong advisory skills with the ability to offer tailored recommendations to clients.
- Familiarity with privacy technologies, best practices, and frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and clients at all levels.
- Strong understanding of data breach response plans and regulatory reporting.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or CDPO.
- Experience with privacy laws outside the EU (e.g., CCPA, LGPD).
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Experience conducting DPIAs and using privacy risk management tools.
